When patients go to the emergency department for a non-life-threatening emergency, it seems impossible to predict how long the wait could be to see a medical provider. But now patients in New Britain, Connecticut, can plan their care by checking their iPhone. Physician assistant Jeremy Allen talks with host Lisa Dandrea Lenell about his role as lead developer on an iPhone app for the Hospital of Central Connecticut. They discuss the benefits to patients and ER staff, as well as how to expand the technology for other medical sites.

Lisa Dandrea Lenell is a physician assistant and the director of operations for an internal medicine practice in Illinois. She is passionate about bringing physician assistant and nurse practitioner issues into the spotlight, focusing on awareness and understanding of the professions.Mrs. Lenell is a graduate of the Physician Assistant Program at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois. She has continued her relationship with Midwestern University, working as adjunct faculty.She has published in the prestigious peer-reviewed medical journal Dermatologic Surgery and has been featured in several professional journals.
Jeremy Allen is a full-time physician associate at The Hospital of Central Connecticut in the Department of Medicine in New Britain, Connecticut. He is also the director of public relations, creative consulting, and product review for iPathy Software. He has a bachelor of science in biochemistry and international studies from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts, and a master's of medical science from Yale University.
