Embracing Value-Based Insurance Design
on Optimizing Outcomes in Chronic Care

Sponsored by Takeda Managed Markets and Chronic Care Collaborative

Value-based insurance design (or VBID) can do more than simply reduce out-of-pocket patient costs. By lowering the amount patients pay for the most effective treatments, all healthcare stakeholders benefit. Mark Fendrick, professor of internal medicine in the School of Medicine, and professor of health management and policy in the School of Public Health, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, defines healthcare value, and stresses the need to remove barriers to the highest-value healthcare services, including preventative care.
